Vëdê-kêba Sêdè (/ˈvëdɘ/ /ˈkɘba/ [empty; vacant; tired (needing rest)] [band (musical group)]) is a temperate City located in the Rëfiithe Zone of the Engineer's Guild.

The name Vëdê-kêba Sêdè is derived from the Sylvin language, as Vëdê-kêba Sêdè was founded by Zeg̈nkê, who was culturaly Iron Elf.

Climate

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè has a yearly average temperature of 22°C (71°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 25°C (77°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cool 20°C (68°F). Vëdê-kêba Sêdè receives an average of 278 cm/y (109 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Vëdê-kêba Sêdè covers an area of nearly 41 km2 (16 mi2), and an average elevation of 5052 m (16574 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè was founded durring the late 15th century in summer of the year 1452, by Zeg̈nkê. The establishment of Vëdê-kêba Sêdè suffered from many setbacks, delays, and obsticles, most notably a group of Vëdê-kêba Sêdè which required millitary assistance exterminate before the community could finish being built.

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè was built using the conventions of Iron Elf durring the late 15th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Vëdê-kêba Sêdè is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè is buildings are arranged arround a network of narrow paverstone streets which form a diagonal shaped grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The city is the proud owner of a proper castle-style stone wall complete with all of the trimmings. It has towers, a moat, gatehouses, drawbridges, and even merticulationsshortsizeleadershipname.. The city's perhapse unnessisarily well built defences are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the citys defences.

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the city like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. You get the terrible feeling that whatever it was, the wound it left will simply never heal. This city is as a necropolice.

Civic Infrastructure

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

The locals are in a state of despair and dull apathy. They've lost the things that used to give them pride and hope, with the best among them carrying on out of habitual duty and the worst giving ready hands to shameful deeds and ignoble acts. No one really believes the future can be better, and most seek only to satisfy immediate appetites.

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its striking sculptural forms and often dazzling ornamental detail that characterizes the buildings general shape. The radiant colors, rich patterns, and symmetrical silhouettes employed by this style were backed up by rich decorative features including gardens, courtyards, extruded arches, domes, pointed domes, vaulted ceilings, elaborate painted and inlaid designs, and decorative sculptures.

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is long in Vëdê-kêba Sêdè.

The Achaierai near Vëdê-kêba Sêdè are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Vëdê-kêba Sêdè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in autumn and involves consuming a local toxin to channel Augury energies of tier 2 via speaking in tongues.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the early 2nd century, Vëdê-kêba Sêdè was attacked by a slaver gang capable of fielding large forces. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Vëdê-kêba Sêdè lost 243 people, 267 livestock, and 44 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 145, when members of Vëdê-kêba Sêdè's militia enacted an operation to locate a particular mine. The operation was complicated by the army being put into a position where they could only choose between two terrible options. The conflict ended with an assault and siege on the mine, which ended in a crushing defeat for Vëdê-kêba Sêdè's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Vëdê-kêba Sêdè's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
